The story of the birth of Songpact is a serendipitous one. The journey began almost exactly 20 years ago when Songpact's founders shared a classroom whilst studying law in high school.
After their exams, they each went their separate ways, carving out their respective professional and personal lives.
One found their calling in advising (and living vicariously through) the talent-side of the music industry, whilst the other specialised in advising record labels. From sharing a desk in school, to occupying opposite ends of the negotiation table, their paths diverged yet converged on a shared passion for music.
Their parallel journeys resulted in a shared realisation – a profound frustration with the archaic inefficiencies that plagued the music industry’s contract drafting and negotiation process. With the benefit of unique insights from both sides of the industry, they saw an opportunity to effect change.
Thus, Songpact was born, driven by a shared mission to level the playing field, usher in a new era of contractual fairness and equality, and provide the music industry with universal access to streamlined and efficient legal solutions.
